The EVE Audio SC204 Active 2-Way Nearfield Studio Monitor is the smallest speaker in EVE’s studio monitor line. If you are working at home, or in a music or post-production studio, it serves as a second pair of ears. This nearfield monitor also has the convenience of threaded screw inserts on the bottom and the back. That way, you can mount your SC204 on a regular microphone or speaker stand or use the back plate for different wall mounting options. Even if the focus is on the sound, EVE Audio monitors offer a holistic solution that is well thought out from A to Z. The SMART-knob helps to simply set and save filters and volume. The bass reflex design helps for precise bass reproduction without background noise. With parameter lock, your settings are saved, even without power. With the safe fade-in, get a slow volume increase when switching on to protect ears and equipment. Surprisingly Powerful The SC204 uses a 4-inch SilverCone woofer with a honeycomb structured diaphragm, driven by a sophisticated low-distortion copper cap magnet system with a 1-inch voice coil responsible for creating a greater linear excursion. This produces a bigger dynamic than one would assume in a monitor of such small proportions. As a result, in addition to the unsurpassed audio transparency of the proprietary AMT tweeter and PWM amplifier combination, the SC204 will surprise you with a very powerful, tight, and precise low end. The Air Motion Transformer The AMT tweeter is EVE’s proprietary technology that follows the rule of no off-the-shelf components to achieve superior results. The preciseness and detail of the high-frequency range of EVE monitors, coupled with the general tightness of the bass and mid-range, make the SC204 a superb speaker that is easily used on the road (due to its reduced size) or as a second pair of speakers for your main setup. Understanding the Air Motion Transformer The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is a unique driver technology, distinct from other audio drivers. It utilizes a lightweight, hand-folded diaphragm that is thinly coated with aluminum. The current of the music signal flows through these conductive strands. The diaphragm is placed in a powerful magnetic field leading to movement in the folds caused by the Lorenz force. Due to the opposing direction of the current the walls of each single fold work against each other. The air between the folds is squeezed in and out at a ratio of 1:4, compared to the 1:1 ratio of a regular dome tweeter. This results in higher resolution and dynamics in the tweeter section, along with a very low distortion level, allowing superior sound quality with enhanced detail and clarity. The SMART-Knob Press and hold the control for three seconds to put the monitor in Standby mode. The volume will decrease gradually while the LED ring lights up once around the Volume control. Afterwards, the LED on the right end will remain dimly lit and the power consumption is reduced to 1 watt. The volume can be adjusted by turning the knob. Depending on the LED mode selected, the volume will be displayed as a dim or bright circle or as a dim or bright point. To put the monitor in Mute Mode, turn the Volume control counterclockwise until you reach the minimum level. When the LED on the left end lights up dimly, the Mute Mode is activated. Press the SMART-knob once to enter the Settings menu. Here you can set different filters as well as the LED ring's behavior. The LED of the currently active function blinks.
