Attractive upright growth with sweet fruit The Candelabra® Highbush Blueberry features an upright, compact growth habit that makes it easy to fit into home gardens, mixed borders, and edible landscapes. Its tidy form provides visual structure while remaining manageable, making it a great choice for gardeners who want productivity without excess sprawl. This variety is prized for its early- to mid-season ripening, producing abundant clusters of large, firm berries with excellent color and balanced flavor. With a 350–400 chill hour requirement, it performs especially well in the Southeast, where it delivers reliable flowering, strong fruit set, and a rewarding harvest year after year. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location that receives full sun to partial shade with well-draining soil. Blueberries require acidic soil to thrive, so it’s best to test your soil before planting or grow in a container where pH is easier to control. Dig a hole about twice the width of the root ball and the same depth. Place the bush in the center, backfill with native soil mixed with peat moss, and gently tamp to remove air pockets. Apply a 2–3" layer of mulch, extending about 3 feet around the bush, and water thoroughly after planting. 2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. During the first year, water weekly, especially during dry spells. Once established, you can reduce frequency but monitor soil moisture to avoid stress on the plant. 3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant. Remove any dead or damaged branches and thin crowded growth to encourage an open structure and improved air circulation. As the plant matures, up to one-third of the tallest stems may be pruned right after harvest to support healthy growth and fruit production. 4. Fertilizing: Fertilize with a balanced, acid-loving fertilizer such as Espoma Holly-tone in early spring and again in late summer. Refunds
