Motu 848 Audio Interface 28 X 32 Thunderbolt/Usb4 Audio Interface

The 848 Thunderbolt interface combines state-of-the-art sound quality, massive connectivity, and flexible routing into a single rack space unit designed to be the heart of your studio. At its core is ESS Sabre32™ DAC technology, delivering a 125 dB dynamic range and vanishingly low distortion for uncompromising analog performance. With universal Thunderbolt™ 4 and USB4 connectivity, the 848 negotiates the fastest possible speed with Mac, PC, or iOS devices, supporting up to 256 channels of computer I/O at sample rates up to 96 kHz. It's 60 simultaneous audio channels, including mic pres, line inputs, guitar DIs, and multiple outputs, make it easy to connect an entire studio setup, and optimized drivers ensure ultra-low latency performance with round-trip figures as low as 1.8 ms.Four transparent mic preamps offer world-class specs and versatile combo inputs that also function as hi-Z guitar DIs, with inserts on channels 3-4 for hardware integration. Control up to twelve analog outputs for immersive monitoring, or switch between three sets of speakers (sold separately) with dedicated A/B/C select and talkback functions. The onboard 64-channel digital mixer provides EQ, dynamics, reverb, and comprehensive aux routing, while the integrated patchbay and routing grid make point-to-point and matrix routing simple and visual. For expansion, built-in AVB networking allows multiple interfaces and computers to work together over standard Ethernet, with hundreds of audio channels streaming across the network at ultra-low latency. Whether you’re producing, mixing, or managing complex sessions, the 848 delivers the sound, flexibility, and connectivity to handle everything you ask with ease.MOTU 848 Audio Interface IncludesSoftwareCueMix Pro for macOS, Windows and iOSDrivers for macOS, Windows and iOS**MOTU Performer Lite for macOS and Windows6GB of loops and sounds from Big Fish Audio, LucidSamples, Loopmasters and MOTUMOTU 848 Audio Interface FeaturesESS Sabre32™ DAC technology delivers 125 dB dynamic range with extremely low distortion for high-fidelity analog performance.Universal Thunderbolt™ 4 and USB4 connectivity ensures compatibility with Mac, PC, and iOS devices, supporting up to 256 channels of computer I/O at sample rates up to 96 kHz.60 simultaneous audio channels accommodate mic pres, line inputs, guitar DIs, and multiple outputs for complete studio integration.Optimized drivers provide ultra-low latency performance with round-trip latency as low as 1.8 ms at 96 kHz.Four transparent mic preamps with combo jacks function as hi-Z guitar inputs; channels 3-4 include insert loops for hardware integration.Control up to twelve analog outputs for immersive monitoring and switch between three speaker sets with A/B/C select and talkback functions.64-channel digital mixer includes EQ, dynamics, reverb, and comprehensive aux routing for flexible mixing.Integrated patchbay and routing grid simplify point-to-point and matrix routing for complex setups.Built-in AVB networking allows multiple interfaces and computers to stream hundreds of audio channels over standard Ethernet at ultra-low latency.Designed as a single rack-space unit to serve as the central hub for professional studios.MOTU 848 Audio Interface SpecificationsSample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192 kHzMic/line/instr inputs 4 x XLR/TRS "combo" jacksIndividual -20 dB pad and 48V phantom powerPreamp gain: +74 dB in 1 dB increments1 MΩ impedance on the line/instr inputsIndependent balanced send/return inserts on channels 3-4Analog inputs 8 x 1/4-inch TRS line in (balanced/unbalanced)2 x 1/4-inch insert returns function as balanced TRSline inputs (with no mic inputs connected)Max level: +21 dBu+20 dB digital gain on each inputAnalog outputs 12 x 1/4-inch TRS line out (balanced, DC coupled)Max level: +21 dBu-99 dB digital trim on each output2 x 1/4-inch TRS stereo headphone (see below)Digital I/O 2 banks (16 ch) of ADAT optical I/O at 1x sample rates2 banks (8 ch) of S/MUX optical I/O at 2x sample ratesBank A switchable to stereo TOSLink I/O (optical S/PDIF)Computer I/O 2 x Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4.1 (40 Gbps) Type CUSB3 / USB2 compatibleUSB audio class compliant (no driver needed)1 x Thunderbolt-compatible / USB4 GEN3 C-to-C cable40Gpbs / 240WLength = 2 metersCable includedProvides 15W power downstream / 0W upstreamCompatible with USB2 Type A with a C-to-A cable(sold separately)Round Trip Latency (RTL): ~1.8 ms(32 sample buffer at 96K)Total audio I/O 28 in / 32 out (60 total channels) at 1x sample rates20 in / 24 out (44 total channels) at 2x sample rates12 in / 16 out (28 total channels) at 4x sample ratesHeadphone2 x 1/4-inch TRS stereo headphonesOutput impedance: MOTU 848 Audio Interface 28 x 32 Thunderbolt/USB4 audio interface.
