Portraits, family group photos, couples, scenic shots with people in them, even pet photos all work beautifully. The square geometry is forgiving of slightly different photo aspect ratios — we will crop intelligently. For maximum impact, choose a photo where the subjects (faces) take up roughly the central two-thirds of the frame. Group shots with up to 6 people engrave well in the Medium and Large sizes. Crystal care K9 optical crystal is built to outlive trends. Display the crystal in any room away from direct sunlight (which can warm the optics over decades). Dust monthly with the included microfiber polishing cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a soft cloth with a small amount of glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth (never directly onto the crystal). Avoid extreme heat or chemical contact. The engraving lives inside the glass, so the portrait will look exactly the same in 30 years as it does today. The square shape handles 2–6 people very well, especially in Medium and Large sizes. For larger groups (8+), the Rectangle or XL Square engrave better. Will the engraving look as sharp on the Small as on the Large? Yes. The 4K HD subsurface laser engraves at the same resolution regardless of crystal size; the difference is simply the physical scale of the engraved image. Do I need the Memory Light Base? The crystal looks beautiful on its own and reads clearly in normal room light.
